About the Author
Born into a close-knit family in the idyllic town of Bluffton, Indiana, Jill Baughan has grappled with a series of painful experiences, ranging from her father's early death to her own infertility. These hurts have changed her, but her innate wildness remains unshaken. Even when part of me mourns what's lost and trembles at what's to come, I still want to hop on a Harley, swing like Tarzan from a vine, and toilet paper the preacher's house.
Baughan believes that too many women have let life's hurts overwhelm their sense of fun, and she, no stranger to pain herself, has written this book to help them rediscover it.
Jill Baughan is an English instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University and the author of A Hope Deferred: A Couple's Guide to Coping with Infertility. Jill serves on the worship ministry team at Cool Spring Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. She believes God has gifted her as a goof-off, and she plans to practice this gift until she dies. She has been married to Ben for 29 years, and they have a daughter, Jamie, who came after the couple struggled many years with infertility.

I loved this book. It truly does help you rediscover the freedom of fun AND at the same time helps you focus on the presence of God's love in all we do.

Fun Ideas you may have forgotten

What a fantastic book! Jill's look at fun takes us on a wild ride down memory lane to a place we all knew but, as adults, have placed on a back burner somewhere. But more than that, she reminds us all of the importance of enjoying whatever stage of life we are living NOW, not in the past or somewhere down the road. The examples she gives from her own quirky life and the simple principals and ideas she shares for enjoying the moments of today, make Born to be Wild a thought-provoking read and a terrific aide for workshops, classes and even book-club discussions. Not to mention an eye opening revelation for those of us who have become couch potatoes in our advancing middle age! I recommend this book to anyone who could use a laugh and a few good ideas for fun. Not a preachy book, but one based on God's hope that we all enjoy the lives He has blessed us with.-

It's fun to be wild!

I heard Jill speak at a convention earlier this year. A great mix of fun, laughter and inspiration. And I found the same in her book. I knew it would be about having fun (and not as a kid, but as an adult), but I didn't realize it would tie in with God and scripture (without being preachy.) It was a fun, easy read that made me laugh out loud. And gave me lots of food for thought about my bucket list of fun things I want to do. If you are finding yourself lacking play and fun or just want to kick it up a notch, this is the book for you. Here's a teaser - one chapter is called "Naked with Candy." Enough said - read it for yourself!
